Commercial Catering Engineer

Job Title Commercial Catering Engineer
Reports To: Service Manager
Location: Central London
Inter relationships: Liaison with the Service Manager

Summary of the Job

Covering breakdowns and planned preventative maintenance contracts, providing the highest quality of service and maintaining a strong working relationship within a small commercial catering team and our high end customers across central London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Servicing, diagnosing and repairing of various kitchen appliances including but not exclusive to, modular ovens and ranges, combination ovens, fryers, planchas, brat pans, mixers, and microwaves from a variety of manufacturers for commercial premises
  • The remit also covers working with gas interlocks, general ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and glass and dishwasher units
  • Establish and ensure a ‘one team’ approach in service maintenance delivery

Key Technical Skills

  • 5-10 years’ experience in commercial catering roles with strong diagnostic and fault finding skills
  • Gas Safe registration
  • COMCAT 1-5
  • UK Driving Licence
  • Strong IT skills for submission of job reports, timesheets, self-service processes and queries via emails
  • Refrigeration experience is not essential but would be advantageous

Remuneration & Benefits

  • £33K – £38K pa (depending on skills and experience)
  • 28 days annual leave (including public holidays) increasing to maximum of 33 at 10 years of service
  • 4 weeks annual leave after 10 years’ service (one off benefit)

Shift Patterns and Rates of Pay

  • Day Shift – 6.30am – 2.30pm
  • Night Shift – 11.00pm – 7.00am

The above are typical work shift patterns but are sometimes subject to flex and fluctuate in line with job demands and client requirements.

  • Monday to Friday day time 6am to 6pm – basic rate
  • Sundays and Bank Holidays – basic rate x 2
  • Night shifts and Saturdays – basic rate x 1.5
  • On call every three weeks – may change to cover unforeseen circumstances, for example covering sick leave
  • When on call payment is made from leaving home to the job
